The Mission and Vision

We have set a goal to reach 50 remote villages in Lesotho with four steps. Step 1: Making contact. Step 2: Showing the Jesus film. Step 3: Biblical workshop. Step 4: Train 1 disciple from the village.

Each Step Explained

We don’t want the emphasis to be on the number of villages we are reaching. We could just show up to 50 villages, spend the day praying and spreading the gospel and call it a day.
But we want to know that our time spent in each village has been spent well and by the end will hopefully yield fruit.
So we have broken the process of “reaching a village” into four steps.

Step 1: Make Contact

Step one is all about starting a relationship with the chief of the village. The goal is to spend a couple of hours explaining to the Chief what our intentions are. Hopefully, we are well received and the Chief is open to us coming back for step 2.

Step 2: Show Jesus Film

Step 2 might occur in tandem with step 1 depending on the circumstances.
This step is all about spending time with the villagers.
Step 1 secured permission with the chief, so now we can go door to door and spread the gospel until nightfall when we show the Jesus film.
Going door to door and hosting a village-wide event such as showing the Jesus film is a wonderful way for the villagers to get to know us and get comfortable with us being in their village. It’s important to remember how remote these villages are, we want to slowly build a relationship so that they don’t become defensive.

Step 3: Discipleship workshop

By now a couple of months have likely passed since step 2 with the village. We have been keeping in contact with the Chief so we can schedule a 2-day biblical workshop with the villagers.
Many of these villages are used to having outside groups come through, make promises only to never return. Step 3 is our chance to solidify that we are serious about making regular visits to their village. Step 3 is an opportunity for those that are interested to expand their biblical knowledge. This step also sets us up perfectly for the fourth and final step.

Step 4: Train One Disciple

These steps have largely been based on our experience with Ha Jobo. We first reached out to Ha Jobo years ago, we kept going back and one day our relationship with the village was at a point where a man named Bokang stepped up and asked if he could come to stay with us in Malealea until he was ready to go back to his home village and spread the gospel.

We are aware that the fourth step most likely won’t occur in each of the 50 villages. However, we believe that God will work through many of these new villages to raise new leaders that are willing to come to Malealea and get theological training so they can go back to their village and continue the work of the Kingdom.

You Can Follow Along!

We know that this goal is going to lead to some amazing experiences, and we want everyone to experience what we experience when we are in the middle of nowhere, fighting for the Kingdom.

Through tools like Google Earth, anyone will be able to explore the map, click on any village, and see which step out of the four steps we are at. You will also be able to see photos and videos specifically about that village.

Then there will be a separate email list for those who want updates specific to the “50 Villages” project. We will also be making social media posts and YouTube videos.

Our hope is that “50 Villages” can become something you are proud of supporting and that you will feel engaged and involved as this project grows.

Support 50 Villages

How often we are able to go on outreaches into the mountains is directly tied to our funding. Every time we need to buy food, rent a horse, and other times it requires fuel.

If you feel the need to support this new mission to reach 50 villages there are a couple of different ways to support it.

1: Prayer
We have no idea what to expect when we are reaching out to these villages. We have only seen the villages on Google Earth. The deeper into the mountains we go the more likely it is that we will run into witchdoctors and other evil forces. We ask for your prayer that God will send the Holy Spirit ahead and open the doors so that we will be able to reach the people of these 50 villages.

2: Donations
A4J Lesotho is funded by donations, all money donated that specifies it’s for 50 villages will be set apart for 50 villages so that we can go on more outreaches.

3: Support us through merch
We have made some T-shirts and hoodies for those that want to support 50 villages by representing this project.

We are grateful for all your support, without your prayers and donations none of A4J Lesotho would be possible.

Financially Supporting 50 Villages

Each trip up to Ha-Jobo costs $200 for a team of 2-4 people, with each additional village adding more costs.
The reality of reaching out into the remote mountains is it takes fuel, horse rentals and food. We say this to be transparent about our costs with anyone that may be interested in helping support the 50 Villages project.

We appreciate any donations made, please be sure to specify that the funds are for 50 Villages.

Is Lesotho a Christian nation? Why 50 villages is important

The mountain kingdom of Lesotho, according to most sources, is up to 90 percent Christian. The first question any potential donor should therefore ask, is why. Why send missionaries to a Christian country when there are millions who have never heard the Gospel elsewhere?
